Position Title: Senior Manager, Engineering - Appetizers

Lead and manage the Regional Capital Projects Group across the Appetizer Business Unit (6) facilities in North America.  Regularly and directly interface with key senior stakeholders (including: Manufacturing Director, Plant Managers, and Engineering Managers) to deliver McCain objectives related to the safe, reliable, and sustainable operation of North America Appetizer assets.  Set expectations and provide technical and policy guidance to Regional and Plant engineers, thereby contributing to the Company’s profitable growth (mission, strategies, and objectives). 

 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Deliver a broad and complex capital portfolio (>$30M CAD) associated with all North America Appetizer Business Unit assets (manufacturing, warehousing, agriculture, etc.), as well as Regional IS infrastructure and office assets.
  2. Directly lead a team of Regional Engineering professionals (~8 individuals), comprised of Project Managers, and Project Engineers, as well as certain SMEs.
  3. Through a heavy dotted line, set expectations and influence Plant Engineering professionals (~40 individuals) to deliver a complex array of capital initiatives aligned with both Global and Regional targets.
  4. Regularly (weekly/monthly) engage with senior stakeholders (VPs and Directors across Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, Procurement, Engineering, and others) to report on capital effectiveness and status, as well as discuss and align on interventions requiring senior level support.
  5. Through an evergreen process, lead the refinement of both the 1 and 5 year capital plans across all assets under this role’s accountability to ensure alignment with updated asset conditions and Corporate objectives.
  6. Serve as the Capital Project Process SME and technical authority on Engineering matters for the Appetizer Business Unit.
  7. Ensure training and education programs are routinely maintained and updated for all Regional and Plant Engineering staff members in the Appetizer Business Unit.
  8. Lead prioritization of the Appetizer capital portfolio to deliver capital effectiveness and best value across all project categories, including: compliance, run & maintain, savings, capacity, new product development, sustainability, IT/IS, agriculture, and others.
  9. Stay abreast of industry engineering trends and developments, and recommend or facilitate adoption of changes in policies and procedures as appropriate.
  1. Play a key role in the due diligence, evaluation, and integration of acquisitions ensuring a smooth transition into McCain Operations and delivery of all synergies.
  2. Ensure full compliance with all regulatory programs – environmental, OSHA, etc.

    • Ability to work with all levels within the organization including VPs and Directors
    • Able to influence key stakeholders through factual data and an understanding of people, constraints, markets, asset conditions, etc.
  • Relationship Management
    • Ability to utilize experience and technical understanding to develop and maintain trust with Manufacturing personnel at all levels.
  • Time Management
    • Ability to prioritize the work of the group to deliver the key elements of success for the Region and McCain.

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Proven experience and ability at a senior level in engineering and in contributing to successful supply chain management.
  • Significant experience and a proven successful track record in managing the engineering activities of a multi-plant organization obtaining optimal cost, quality and service.
  • Demonstrated capability and senior level experience in executing the development and completion of Capital projects that optimize the supply chain.
  • Significant experience in engineering management in the food processing industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to assemble, develop and effectively direct an engineering team.
  • Experience in the management of other functional areas (manufacturing, distribution, or warehousing, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Ability to engage internal teams at all levels through developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to interface successfully with people representing differing styles and cultures
  • Capability and desire to progress within the organization to positions of increasing management scope and responsibility.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering or Technical field is required.

 

TRAVEL:

 

To be effective in this role, 25-50% travel to various project and plant sites in North America is expected.
