Job Summary


The Line Centric Mechanic provides safety and leadership to achieve breakthrough production results on their lines/system. The Line Centric Mechanic is responsible for building capability within the operating teams and equipment owners. The Line Centric Mechanic works to eliminate losses following a daily process that is data driven and focused on root cause elimination. The role is accountable to improve the reliability of the system through ownership in defect handling breakdown elimination, planning and scheduling. This position leverages the process discipline of continuous improvement tools.


The Line Centric Mechanic is the Planned Maintenance (PM) System owner for their lines. Additionally, this role will need to build capability in the Processing Lead and Glide Path Lead roles and must be able to cover their responsibilities in their short term absence.


Job Functions


Essential Functions:


  • Build capability of the line team and technicians to understand their equipment at component level
  • Identify and resolve defects and improve asset life
  • Complete an analysis of equipment performance and improve component life
  • Lead portions of the daily, weekly, monthly and quartering DDS meetings, including:
    • Daily reporting and prioritization of defects found/fixed including total backlog.
    • Daily reporting of breakdowns and execution of breakdown elimination.
    • Contribute to development and execution of the plan for the day.
    • Weekly Breakdown Elimination dice chart overview and development of line team and technicians through sharing and educating learnings.
    • Weekly tracking and reporting of maintenance measurement data.
    • Identify and address safety risks related to maintenance activities.
    • Prioritize safety risks identified through defect handling, includes maintenance work completed during planned stops.

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to present materials to a large audience.
  • Possess working knowledge of MS Word and Excel, PowerPoint preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in basic English and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions with minimal guidance, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong ability to work independently or/and with others.
  • Ability to work /train on all operating shifts dividing time equally among all shifts.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Highly dependable, no documented attendance corrective action within last 12 months.


Skill and Knowledge

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing setting operating machinery preferred.
  • Good understanding of mechanical processes, both hands-on and theory.
  • Practical knowledge of SAP-PM, Planning and Scheduling.
  • Understanding of maintenance and reliability performance metrics.
  • Able to demonstrate skills in leadership, problem-solving, coaching and training.
  • Maintain equipment re-certification as required.




Smock, Gloves, Hairnet, Sleeves, Waterproof Suit, Ear Plugs, Protective Toe Shoes, Goggles (when needed) or as determined by SDS sheets for chemicals.
