Position Title: Production Management Trainee- Plover Potato

Statement of Job

This role exists to strengthen the capability in our plant manufacturing network through the development of a PMT curriculum that enhances our talent pipeline for critical roles such as Plant Managers.  The PMT program is aimed at providing high potential, talented graduates a strong foundation for understanding McCain’s business to develop into future leaders for McCain.  PMT trainees will be paired closely with senior experienced subject matter experts within McCain operations and plant teams to learn all aspects of the manufacturing process. Employee will participate in a two-year Plant Management development program.  The Trainee will complete applied learning experiences in manufacturing operations from “field to fork” within our product life cycle. Working directly with business leaders in the program knowledge focus areas, the Trainee will be actively involved in the curriculum development of the PMT program.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Observe experienced staff and gain knowledge about process, procedures, methods and standards that are required for performing  a supervisory role within each of the program focus area
  • Complete a structured development plan consisting of training courses and applied learning experiences of rotational assignments within the manufacturing process with required assignments
  • Actively participate in the curriculum development of the PMT program through creation of structured assignments that deliver expected learning outcomes
  • Complete assignments in each of the program focus areas within the manufacturing process assuming a front-line supervisory role (ie. receiving, processing, packaging, quality, etc.)
  • Organize and lead work teams within assigned focus area including scheduling, safety, daily operations performance management
  • Create detailed curriculum with learning outcomes and clearly defined skill/knowledge requirements  of what a PMT needs to learn
  • As a PMT, the role will oversee a crew of people within the program focus area for the duration of the rotational assignment.  Decision making will increase upon completion of the full production process
  • Build experiences / projects that enhance learning and knowledge transfer
  • Create assessments that ensure learning achieved
  • Regular assignments and operational analysis and reporting are required throughout the term of the program

 

 

  • Organize and lead meetings as required.
  • Consultation and sound judgment in analyzing daily metrics to determine best course of action

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Education:  BS Engineering  or BA Business

Scope of Authority

  • The incumbent will be required to work from a McCain office and may require travel as business needs require (the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces).
