Position Title: Maintenance Mechanic Technician

Department: Agriculture & Field Department

Position Location: Hwy 54 in Wisconsin Rapids

Position Hours: 11:00pm-7:00am (Monday-Friday)

Pay: $29.74-$35.48hour plus $1.25/hour shift differential & up to 3% quarterly bonus &

$1,500 sign on bonus

Position Summary:

As the Maintenance Mechanic Technician, you will have the opportunity to work on all aspects our agriculture related equipment.  You will repair and install all related production equipment in a safe and efficient manner and contribute to the production of our quality products! You would be working closely with the Operators and be provided the education to grow in your career! 

 

Statement of Job

  • Demonstrate and support safety awareness in every activity. 
  • Ensure the mechanical and electrical functionality and operability of all designated equipment in accordance with safety policies, quality specifications, State and Federal guidelines, and company policies.
  • Maintain and modify site agricultural and field assets as needed.  Assemble plant equipment under minimal supervision.  Estimate maintenance and repair costs.  Participate in equipment layout designs. 
  • Identify equipment improvements to reduce downtime and expenses, and to improve asset reliability. 
  • Operate agricultural assets and field equipment as assigned. 

 

Major Duties

  • Promote safety as an active participant in the development of plant safety goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Use complex tools and instruments to assemble, fabricate, install, modify, operate, troubleshoot, adjust, and repair various types of plant machines and systems.
  • Develop and sustain asset histories, including OEM documentation; maintenance plans; work order records; parts and materials lists; etc., within the site CMMS system.
  • Perform routine asset inspections.

Perform planned, unplanned, and emergency electrical and mechanical work, on assets and components including, but not limited to, conveyors; power transmission elements; motors; gearboxes; electrical fixtures; power cords and connectors; photo-eyes; solenoid valves; overload protection devices; control instrumentation; monitoring devices; etc.

  • Lubricate assets as required. 
  • Respond to trouble calls routinely and efficiently.  Troubleshoot functional issues for all assets as needed.
  • Properly clean and organize repair areas to prevent product contamination, meet food safety guidelines, and maintain a professional and efficient environment. 
  • Provide technical expertise to coworkers and advise coworkers on maintenance and operational matters when needed.
  • Accurately complete and retain required reports and records.
  • Understand quality control concepts and processes.
  • Maintain basic working knowledge of OSHA regulations, NEC/70E electrical codes, and other relevant regulatory requirements. 
  • Work directly with project managers, contractors, and engineers as required.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid forklift license.
  • Operate site agricultural assets and field equipment to support plant production schedules and plans.
  • Act as McCain point of contact for temporary contract workers on occasion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers. 

 

Special Requirements

  • Must demonstrate commitment to personal, product, asset, and site safety.
  • Must proactively follow all PPE requirements, safety policies, and safety regulations. 
  • Must demonstrate electromechanical aptitude, technical proficiency, and consistent attention to detail.
  • Must display work-related initiative, independence, and self-motivation to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess own tools to safely perform assigned tasks.
  • Must comprehend mechanical drawings, electrical prints, asset schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.
  • Should preferably possess: 
  • experience with, or training on, working safely with 480-volt 3-phase power;
  • basic knowledge of power distribution, control wiring, and related components;
  • basic understanding of PLC functions;
  • basic understanding of VFD functionality and servo or process controllers;
  • basic electrical troubleshooting and one-for-one component replacement skills, including methods to acknowledge and interpret basic VFD faults. This position is not intended to include PLC, VFD, servo, or instrumentation installation or programming.
  • Must be capable of communicating complex and technical operational and procedural data in terms understood by non-technical operators both verbally and in written form. 
  • Must occasionally work outdoors, exposed to environmental conditions, intense noise, chemicals, and fumes. 
  • Job tasks will occasionally require extensive physical effort in awkward positions.
