As our Food Service, QSR, and Retail markets structurally change driven by consumer demand, technology adoption, and supply chain evolution we need to be continually developing our expertise in these new spaces and demonstrating leadership with our customers to build strong influential relationships that garner leading market share and growth. Examples of these new spaces are e-commerce within Retail and the Aggregators within Off Premise – both of these examples of where technology and supply have enabled consumer demand for food not prepared or shopped for themselves to be met. This role provides the resource to focus on these emerging spaces and accelerate our understanding of them and the implications for McCain and to develop strategies and tactics for McCain to win a leading share as Customer and Category leaders.


With the Senior Director, the Channel Development Manager (CDM) will be responsible for embedding Demand Spaces within our customer and category leadership teams and external relationships and in developing the category capability of the organization to leverage this to unlock growth. The CDM will set the agenda, strategy, and tactics for the development of new and emerging channels including Retail E-commerce, Off Premise Food Aggregators, Ghost Kitchens & Virtual Restaurants, and Retail in Developing Markets. The CDM will work with key internal and external partners to create the emerging channel strategies and operate in partnership with the markets to establish engagement and buy in and develop localized tactics and plans and within these leverage our Demand Space framework. The CDM will champion insight based best practice and support local market development of subject matter expertise. The CDM will support the Global Growth and Strategy team with appropriate channel market intelligence and analytics, and support the Global Channel and Category community to connect and collaborate driving best practice development and adoption and customer leadership and execution. 

1.    Support, coach and enable the embedding of Demand Spaces within markets and customers as the framework through which McCain prioritizes and unlocks growth.  
2.    Working with the Senior Director, Channel and Category Development to identify and analyze emerging channels/routes to market and to assess the implications for McCain and prioritize them.
3.    For prioritized emerging channels develop commercial strategies and tactics and engage, coach and support the markets to localize and implement them as part of customer growth plans. Currently prioritized emerging channels include Retail E-commerce, Off Premise Food Aggregators, Ghost Kitchens and Virtual Restaurants, and Developing Retail Markets.
4.    Set up a framework to support and coach the commercial community to develop subject matter expertise in emerging channels to enable McCain to lead and guide the customer. This could include community forums, specialized training, subscriptions to specialized content, industry experts, and developing support materials with 3rd party providers.
5.    Support the development of the category capability of the business with markets and channels.
6.    Support the Global Growth and Strategy team with channel intelligence and analytics.
7.    Develop and drive connectivity and collaboration across the commercial community.

Qualifications & Skills:
•    Degree in a business related discipline
•    Advanced communication and presentation skills
•    Ability to effectively work with virtual and diverse teams and managing workflow
•    Advanced stakeholder engagement capability
•    Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills
•    Collaborative planning using Teams/SharePoint
•    Power BI dashboard/similar
•    Project Management
•    Advanced customer or category development experience within a commercial environment (eg. Senior Channel Manager, Senior Category Manager, Senior Insight Manager, Senior Business Unit Manager)
•    Advanced customer and channel strategy development and execution experience within an FMCG company, preferably branded.
