Customer Onboarding Specialist

Full-time

The Customer Onboarding Specialist is responsible for establishing processes per customer requirements which will contribute to increasing working capital. Working collaboratively with customers as well as across functions of the business, your responsibility is to manage complicated new account requests and assist in correcting existing account issues. This position is all about communication, project management, and relationship building. 

 

How You'll Help:

 

  • Create/recommend process flow for on-boarding new customers and correcting existing on-boarding issues
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new accounts based on a thorough understanding of the pricing, rates, billing, sales and operations related to the Company
  • Corporate – serves all divisions across all departments – juggling stakeholders internal and external
  • Identify, investigate, and develop strategies for the resolution of account issues related to internal and external process gaps
  • Maintain listing of projects being worked on and communicate status via weekly meetings with Shared Services leadership
  • Monitor projects to ensure alignment with established targets
  • Resolve onboarding issues via virtual and in-person meetings and maintain professional communication for the purpose of building positive relationships with customers, both internal and external
  • Facilitate conference calls and/or meetings to correct and align internal stakeholders with external customers
  • Collaborate across departments; including Sales, Operations, Pricing and Rates, to identify problems
  • Work to remove barriers and find innovative solutions to ensure the prompt payment of invoices and positive customer experience
  • Hold others accountable in a positive, constructive manner
  • Work closely with the credit assessment, collections, and invoice resolution team to identify onboarding opportunities
  • Other related duties as may be required

 

Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, accounting or related field
  • A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered
  • 5+ years’ experience in a finance role, preferably in the transportation industry
  • Adjudication experience an asset
  • Project management experience an asset
  • A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Strong MS Suite skills; Outlook, Excel & Word; must possess the aptitude for learning new programs; AS400 – an asset; ability to learn new programs/platforms
  • Project management experience
  • Understanding of freight flow, billing, rating, and tariffs
  • Ability to speak confidently
  • Exceptional customer service focus and relationship building skills
  • Resiliency and persistence to resolve outstanding issues between external and internal stakeholders while maintaining the customer relationship
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written: persuasive, confident, with the ability to articulate an appropriate message to various audiences clearly and concisely  
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced setting, managing multiple files and multiple customers
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline driven environment; appropriate sense of urgency
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with others to meet customer expectations
  • Excellent leadership and persuasion skills
  • Maintain composure under high-pressure situations and difficult conversations               
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills, with the ability to evaluate current situation, respond quickly to changing requirements, and execute accordingly
  • Ability to understand customer’s needs and solution appropriately
  • Interpret transportation agreements, and understand transportation documentation and verbiage
  • English, other languages an asset
  • No direct reports
