ABOUT THE ROLE

 

We are on the lookout for a Research and Development Technician.

Reporting to the Snr Innovations Chef, you will be responsible for supporting the R&D team with all aspects of product development.

You’ll already have experience in the FMCG environment (but not essential, experience with food is desirable).  and have a flair for putting together some mouthwatering creations but to sum it up you will also…

 

Be involved in Product Development & Project Support, including:

 

•    Assisting Development Team in all aspects of Food Service, Retail and QSR projects
•    Follow instructions to carry out tasks in a timely manner accurately and precisely with full documentation to support work carried out using standard document templates. 
•    Use food knowledge and creative skills to make suggested alterations to recipes.
•    Carry out product development activities to support the delivery of the project – this may include cooking directions, research support, specification support – defect evaluation, product weights, attending line trials and shelf life.
•    Developing into supporting bespoke small projects, guided by Snr. Innovations Chef/Food Scientist

 

Take part in the Presentation Preparation and Delivery, involving:

 

•    Responsible for organising products for sales presentations, food photography & research, ensuring the correct quality of products, and people are in the right place at the right time.
•    Ensuring all equipment is kept in a clean, tidy manner and is available for presentations when required.
•    Replacement or repair of any damaged equipment to ensure that it is always in good working order.


Be responsible for the kitchen Management and Hygiene, comprising:

 

•    Responsible for a clean, safe (S.O.P) & HACCP controlled, professional kitchen that is tidy and well stocked.
•    Maintain high standards of food hygiene principles to ensure the kitchen is audit ready.
•    Responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of sundries to meet the needs of the kitchen. Include PPE and Disposables 
•    Ensure the appliances are kept in good working order, organising servicing and maintenance when required.
•    Coordinate and work with the other Technician/Snr Technician to ensure that the above is achieved.

 

Carrying out Sample Requests which involves:

 

•    To support the Product Development team in sample distribution and be a key contact for the department, ensuring all paperwork, product samples and couriers are arranged in a timely, professional manner.
•    Using up to date knowledge of the sample request procedures so that couriers can be coordinated for both UK and Global shipments.  
•    Keep records of all parcels delivered, delivery service used, and costs involved up to date ensuring completion of all relevant paperwork and providing monthly reports.

•    Knowledge of food preparation and manufacturing procedures, processing, and food safety is desirable.

•    Someone with energy and enthusiasm with the ability to prioritise workloads.
•    Ability to create favourable first impressions, project themselves well and present with confidence, both internally and externally.
•    A strong team player that is committed and determined.
•    Must hold a full driving licence.
•    A flexible individual with exceptional organisational skills
•    Your effective communication and interpersonal skills aid you to build strong.
