Position Title: Finance Accountant (Controls and Governance) - Hybrid Working

Position Type: Regular - Full-Time

Position Location: Scarborough

Requisition ID: 13835

For over 60 years we’ve been the number one branded player in frozen potato market. When it comes to bringing the nation together at mealtimes with simple, delicious and great tasting food we’re kind of a big deal!

You won’t just find us in supermarkets though. As well as owning a household retail brand, our respected foodservice business works in close partnership with distributors, chefs and caterers across thousands of the country’s pubs, restaurants, hospitals and schools.

But although we are passionate about potatoes, we’re even more passionate about our People!

We are recruiting for a Financial Accountant (Controls & Governance) to join our winning Finance team.

ABOUT THE JOB.

This is a brand new role in our team, and as we embark on building back stronger, this role will play a part in strengthening the financial control, governance and technical support across the finance department and wider GB business.

Reporting into the Head of FP&A and Financial Controls, this role is accountable for working closely with a wide range of stakeholders to evaluate and maintain financial control and governance and take the lead on delivering system and process improvement, providing technical advice across accounting standards and taxation, and managing audit processes, internally and externally.

In addition, you will also provide supervision of our payroll and pension team, as well as being an integral part of our wider finance team providing management cover for transactional activities across accounts payable and receivable and dipping your toes into other areas of FP&A.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR...

As well as experience as a Finance Accountant in an FMCG environment (and a love of potatoes of course!), you must also have…

  • Cross-functional business partnering and collaboration. You must be able to build relationships across the wider business (Internal Audit, Shared Service functions) and influence decision making.
  • Experience of leading a high performing team. Be able to instil a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and acting as a role model for inspiring excellence.
  • Taxation – knowledge of the UK taxation regime to ensure compliance of large business requirements.
  • Accounting standards – familiarisation of current legislation around accounting standards to support delivery of statutory reporting and compliance.
  • Audit – stakeholder management and rigorous process review to provide comfort around controls and governance.
  • Accountancy Qualification – member of a recognised accounting body (ACA/CIMA/ACCA).
  • Problem solving – ability to find solutions and to be able to adapt and modify solutions based on changing requirements.
  • Written and verbal communication – to communicate across business lines and report on findings and processes to executives and employees.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK.

We know visiting the office daily is a thing of the past, and with our Head Office in Scarborough, North Yorkshire we know this wouldn’t suit everyone. We operate a Hybrid working approach and your success will be measured by the objectives you deliver, and not where you’re based. So although we don’t set the number days, we’d like to see you in the office weekly.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU.

Although we do encourage you to taste the goods you’ll be pleased to know we don’t pay you in chips. For working hard, you’ll also get a great salary and some pretty good benefits including:

  • An excellent pension where we will pay double what you do, up to a maximum of 12% of your pay
  • Flexible holidays – where you can buy & sell up to 5 days holiday per year
  • Achievable personal and business performance based bonus
  • Private medical insurance scheme
  • Optional health cash plan
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • ‘Chips In’ Volunteering Day Off - to make a positive impact to the competitiveness, resilience, and long-term development of McCain communities across the globe

And of course, being part of a Global business there are great opportunities to shine/thrive should you wish to relocate in the future. We have an ambitious 5 year growth plan that presents development & progression opportunities for those who seek it out.
