Department:               Customer Delivery

Reports to:                 Customer Supply Manager

Location:                    Scarborough / Flexible

A little about McCain…

We have five McCain factories across the UK, including our head office in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. As well as a strong network of farmers, we also own a potato seed business in Montrose, Scotland. McCain is the UK's largest purchaser of British potatoes, buying approximately 15% of the annual potato crop.

We know the importance that food plays in people’s lives – celebrating real connections through delicious planet-friendly food. We believe that working together with our teams, business and community partners will bring sustainable growth and positive change - today, tomorrow and for generations to come.

Our products wouldn’t make it from farm to fork without our fast-thinking supply chain teams. And we’re looking for a customer service-orientated champion who will keep things moving. Talk about speedy spuds!

About the job…

The Customer Delivery Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all deliveries are made to our customers on time by utilising the network in the most efficient manner.

The nature of the role is very cross-functional and you will be working as part of a team, liaising with Customer Services, production planning and our 3rd party Transport and Warehousing providers. You will ensure that our stock is accurate and up to date, ready to be delivered to our customers.

As well as being involved in invoicing and system data maintenance ensuring our costs are kept within budget and reduced where possible you will also...

  • Plan and optimise the daily customer deliveries and back hauls to ensure delivery window targets and safety standards are met in accordance with legislation and company policies and procedures.
  • Accurate execution of day to day operational activities in an effective manner, meeting required timelines including processing of customer orders and informing the hauliers / cold stores. Ensuring that all parties get the information required to meet the customer delivery times.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and customers to communicate routes, delays and possible issues with deliveries and collections, working in partnership with 3PLs and sub-contractors to source replacement drivers.
  • Develop back haul lanes with customers to maintain fleet utilisation.
  • Handle and resolve customer queries and complaints in line with company procedures.
  • Plus lots more..!

We’re looking for someone…

Who thrives on delivering customer service excellence, is able to work cross-functionally as part of a team and possesses excellent communication skills as well as having the ability to demonstrate a pro-active attitude.

You also will have experience working within Transport/Logistics and ideally experience of operating an ERP such as SAP.

Where will I be working?

Our Head Office is in Scarborough, North Yorkshire and we operate a hybrid working policy here at McCain and our culture is based on achieving outcomes, so although we’d love to see you from time to time success will be measured by the objectives you deliver, and not where you’re based.

What’s in it for me?

Although we do encourage you to taste the goods you’ll be pleased to know we don’t pay you in chips. For working hard, you’ll also get a great salary and some pretty good benefits including:

  • An excellent pension where we will pay double what you do, up to a maximum of 12% of your pay
  • Flexible holidays – where you can buy & sell up to 5 days holiday per year
  • Private medical insurance scheme
  • Optional health cash plan
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • ‘Chips In’ Volunteering Day Off - to make a positive impact to the competitiveness, resilience, and long-term development of McCain communities across the globe

And of course, being part of a Global business there are great opportunities to shine/thrive should you wish to relocate in the future. We have an ambitious 5 year growth plan that presents development & progression opportunities for those who seek it out.
