Position Summary

The Senior Production Manager is responsible for providing strategic proactive leadership and support of the safety, quality, people, sanitation, and production planning operations of the Line 4 plant in Othello.

 

Responsibilities:

  • To be a proactive safety and food safety ambassador and role model, ensuring a safe work environment and promote continuous efforts to improve the effectiveness of the plant safety culture. 
  • Continually strive to foster a highly engaged team environment that provides open and honest communication across all levels.
  • To be an engaging, supportive people leader for the production team
  • Plan production activities to achieve the overall site goals and mission.
  • Lead and monitor the adoption and implementation of site MDI principles and practice.
  • To be an active change management coach.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor manufacturing operations to meet scheduled production volume requirements.
  • Direct production operations to meet all targets with respect to safety, quality, sanitation, and cost. 
  • Ensure adherence to all company and external quality assurance and sanitation guidelines.
  • Direct and lead efforts to continually improve the manufacturing costs and quality of all products.
  • Support and ensure implementation of all Human Resources policies and requirements.
  • Recognize exemplary employee performance.
  • Identify and support career development and training opportunities for team
  • To direct or assist in the design of plant improvement or capacity expansion projects.
  • Develop and implement strategies for cost savings, waste reduction, and optimization.
  • Continually develop knowledge related to innovations in the food processing industry.
  • To prepare and submit reports on a timely basis, including Key Performance Indicators, annual operating and capital budgets, and to work within these budget guidelines.
  • Promote inter-department cooperation through active collaboration site leadership.
  • Provide resources to department supervisors, resolve issues, and solve problems referred to the Plant Manager.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership through effective communications to all levels of management and the hourly work force.
  • Continually strive to develop personal and professional skills.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Three to four years production experience in a food processing plant in a significant leadership capacity.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions both written and oral as well as read and interpret schedules related to production/ product schedules and line changeovers.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate in Basic English and interact with all levels of the organization.

 

The incumbent works closely with each member of the site. In particular, the incumbent maintains very high level of communications and coordination with the Plant Manager, Ag Operations Manager, the Human Resources Business Partner, Engineering Manager, and Health & Safety Manager and their respective team members. The incumbent also maintains a high degree of rapport and communications with company departments including Production Planning and Inventory Control, Corporate Quality teams, Research and Development, Marketing, Sales, and Engineering.

 

This position is accountable for ensuring that all finished product meets established quality requirements, that the plant continually meets all sanitation, foreign material, microbiological control guidelines, adherence to statistical process control, and hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP), as well as USDA, FDA, and other inspection agency requirements. The safety, wellbeing, and effectiveness of all people is a prime responsibility while meeting these accountabilities.

 

The nature of this position requires that the incumbent display the ability to create positive working relationships and to involve others in working collectively toward achievement of department and plant goals. Through outstanding coaching, training, communications, problem solving, leadership, and recognition this individual creates a focus for others in creating and maintaining a continuous improvement environment.

 

Salary Range: $125,000 - $135,000 USD annually + Benefits (+ Bonus)

The salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position at the time of posting. Within the range, exact compensation will be determined based on education/training, skill set, experience, and other organizational needs.
