Position Title: Poly Operator Assistant 1

SUMMARY

Loads cases onto Case Erector machines, changes tape, and performs changeover adjustments to the Wexxar, DynaCop. Helps in daily sanitation and clean-ups in the packaging area.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

  • Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.
  • Loads cases onto a case erector machine in the proper position.
  • Ensures sufficient amount of cases are loaded correctly to prevent machine from running out of cases causing machine downtime. .
  • Communicates with Dry Supply regarding the status of case inventory.
  • Reworks bags or cases from the tape deck area or from Shipping.
  • Helps strip out product as needed.
  • Observes and removes damaged cases as needed.
  • Performs sanitation around assigned machines and surrounding area.  
  • Learns proper codes and SKUs of cases. 
  • Attends and participates in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training and monthly informational meetings.                           
  • Communicates any problems or changes in production or quality to supervisor and appropriate personnel.
  • Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to ensure a quality operation.
  • Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Helps to build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the Factory, and the Company.
  • Completing work requests (Blue Tickets) for the Wexxar, or Dyna Cop  equipment that needs mechanical attention.
  • Clears Wexxar case erector case jams using proper LOTO as necessary.
  • Reports issues with case erector, Blueprint or DynaPak equipment that prevents them from running at peak efficiency.
  • Responsible for hand taping any cases that won’t go through the case erector.
  • Must be able to perform Lock Out Tag Out successfully.
  • Responsible for breaking down and saving unused cases when performing a case changeover.
  • Participates in continuous improvement process.
  • Must adhere to the McCain Code of Conduct.
  • The employee may be required to successfully complete the orientation and training provided during the first ninety- (90) days of employment.
  • Wexar setup, changeover, operation and trouble shooting.
  • DynaCop set-up, changeover, operation and troubleshooting
  • Case settler setup, changeover, operation and trouble shooting.
  • Kleanline elevator setup, operation and trouble shooting.

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY

     

  • Responsibility to monitor work areas, watch for suspicious behavior and report any concerns regarding unidentified visitors and/or unauthorized personnel.
  • Authority to question and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of themselves, other employees, products, and equipment.
  • Responsibility of maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the food processing facility, especially where any raw or finished product is produced.
  • Authority to report and/or eliminate hazards to the safety of the food that is produced in the facility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to the vibration of the machine. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Visual acuity and alertness.  Required of aligning cases on automatic caser, for identifying problems and for safety due to moving equipment. 

Speech/communication/hearing.  Required ability to inform supervisor or operator of problems.  Requires ability to listen and follow any special instructions relating to safety or job performance. 

Touch.  Must be able to use fingers to grasp objects, etc. 

  • Able to perform all job safety requirements.

  • Simple computer skills.
  • Other:  Requires moderate degree of manual and mental skill, initiative, and independence.  Requires reasonable care to avoid minor product or equipment losses.  Requires considerable care to avoid moderate injuries to self.  Requires standing with extensive movements in one area for long periods of time.  Occasionally requires individual to be in awkward positions.  Caution is required when working around equipment including automatic caser to keep hands clear of moving parts when removing jams.  Proper body mechanics need to be practiced whether lifting, pushing, sweeping, bending, stooping, crouching, etc.
