McCain Foods is seeking a Sr Marketing Director, Foodservice to join our growing team!


The Senior Director, Marketing develops and implements business and marketing plans to meet the strategic and financial goals for the Appetizers Portfolio of Products across both Away from Home/Foodservice channels. This individual oversees the critical piece of the overall McCain USA portfolio, and plays an important role in the division’s strategic plans for the future.  This role has accountability for at overall growth and profit goals, and works with other key functions in the organization to identify new target markets and expand market share per agreed corporate goals.  This individual will play a key role in the leadership of the company and is a member of the Marketing Leadership Team and the expanded US Commercial Leadership Team.  The Sr. Director will lead the efforts of a direct team as well as a diverse matrixed cross-functional team. 


•    Leads business strategy development process and planning to drive channel growth levers. Sets long-term strategic direction and oversees the development of annual marketing plans for the Appetizers business.  Recommends brand business and marketing investment mix to most effectively deliver goals for both Food Away from Home as well as At Home businesses.
•    Spearheads business plan implementation while working cross functionally with Sales and other functional areas of the organization to deliver on financial performance.
•    Manages and delivers P&L objectives including managing the product mix to optimize Sales, Share, Gross Profit dollars and Gross Profit %. Inclusive of monthly/quarterly/annual reporting and forecasting against key metrics for the business. 
•    Leads the development and management of growth platforms to deliver against the business vision and continue the portfolio’s growth. Provides strategic direction and oversight towards Innovation Strategy Development and Delivery. Manages delivery of close-in product extension and works with the Innovation function to develop further-out new product needs.
•    Directs the agency creative process in support of digital/IM key brands (At Home & AFH) as well as occasion-based marketing platforms in media and other direct to operator & consumer equity and consumption building programs
•    Serves as key U.S. Marketing lead and interface to Global Growth Initiatives to provide U.S. market input to global strategies and plans as well as to bring back opportunities for execution within US market.  
•    Works with the Insights function to plan, initiate and direct market research to identify consumer needs, occasions as well as key customer needs, industry needs, and both consumer and customer preferences.
•    Partners with Sales to develop optimal trade/customer strategy, plans, programs and pricing which more effectively and efficiently deliver sales, consumption and profit.  
•    Works with Customer Marketing to ensure delivery of high impact customer and market propositions are deployed in line with portfolio business strategy. 
•    Owns the business reporting and on-going dashboards, measures the effectiveness of all marketing activities for the Appetizers business to assess & adapt marketing plans in in conjunction with Integrated Marketing.  
•    Implements Directs the Appetizers team’s brand resources and personnel to obtain maximum benefit through organization, training and leadership.
•    Leads cross-functional teams to deliver business objectives, and aligns priorities and resources across functions to support business strategies and priorities.  Manages risks and coaches teams to reach their goals.
•    Provides leadership to the Marketing team and other functional departments.
•    Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.

•    Groom marketers in critical experience in FAH and AH consumption
•    Develops people to upgrade individual skills as well as team performance.  
•    Challenges others to continuously improve learning and execution.  
•    Advocates and implements training of department.


•    Proven track record promoting an environment of exchange and a culture of exchange and collaboration 
•    Ability to set clear direction on business priorities and lead cross-functional teams and senior sales leaders in a team environment
•    Leadership skills aimed at business management, channel acumen and decision making enablement with Sales colleagues and direct reports

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
•    Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field (MBA strongly preferred)
•    Proven track record of success in developing and implementing strategic plans to drive significant sales, profit, and share growth
•    General Management mindset and potential.
•    Experience in driving success through a combination of Consumer Marketing, Customer Marketing and Sales strategies.   
•    The successful candidate will have a balanced blend of both the creative and commercial skills and perspectives required by brand management. He/she will need particular business strengths in strategic thinking, analysis, planning and execution and effective communications. Personal characteristics should include: Genuine and natural leadership skills, a strong work ethic, the willingness and capability to be a self-starter, the ability to make informed independent decisions, strong interpersonal skills and people-centric leadership.
•    Computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.  

Required Length & Type of Experience: 
•    15+ years of Marketing or Brand Management experience in a reputable Consumer Packaged Food and/or Foodservice company.  The ideal candidate will have a balance of both Foodservice and Retail channel experience and come with prior business strategy development and P&L management experience.
