This position will report to the NA Planet-Friendly Director who sits in our Chicago office, USA. Please note this is a 15-month contract role. 

 

The NA Planet-Friendly Manager will be responsible for monitoring the progress against the sustainability commitments, closing the gaps and measuring impact.  This means coordinating key sustainability projects across all 4 sustainability pillars, effectively managing stakeholders across various functions and supporting data reporting as required.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Driving Project Management (making it happen!) [approx. 60% of the time]: You have strong leadership and project management skills, and you are able to juggle multiple projects / priorities and deliver high quality outcomes under pressure.

  • Support the regional sustainability governance to ensure objectives are being met (regional steering committees, planet-friendly ambassadors.)  Bring the best in our people.
  • Drive short- and long- range sustainability projects by engaging multifunctional teams across 4 pillars of sustainability.
  • Ability to tailor messaging to various audiences to get people on board across all levels of the organization. Able to create great slides that are informative and visually appealing.
  • Possess deep understanding of social and environmental data across the supply chain (operations, agriculture, food, communities, foundations) and be familiar with the ESG reporting channels – liaise with global team where required.
  • Think big and plan ahead: Supports cross-functional stakeholders in their efforts to develop innovations in line with Planet-Friendly initiatives. Seize opportunities and keep eyes open for innovation.

 

Reporting [approx. 10% of the time]: You are a process and result-oriented leader with a solid business acumen and an eye toward impact and influence.

  • Support third-party audits when sustainability data is required
  • Serve as secondary contact to respond to various stakeholder ESG requests, including customer and prospect RFPs and surveys, investors, and employees.
  • Maintain consistency in quantitative and qualitative sustainability information across various platforms and scorecards.

 

Support the Planet-Friendly storytelling (amplify!) [approx. 30% of the time]: Convey the business case of sustainability to inspire commitment and action from local teams and leadership;

  • Co-create a communication strategy to share sustainability progress internally, build and develop appropriate communication tools.
  • Creatively share key sustainability data in a way that is compelling and tailored to each audience, strong Powerpoint skills required.

 

  WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Someone who is passionate about sustainability, with a robust knowledge of sustainability and climate issues
  • 5+ years of driving sustainability projects, significant experience in a role that combines technical and professional experience in sustainability
  • A Master degree in Engineering or Business school, ideally specialized in Sustainability, Environmental planning, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Policy or related field
  • Has excellent project management skills, proactively manages stakeholders.
  • Experience in amplifying sustainability wins internally & externally, creativity and design ability.
  • Analytical:  Concise and data oriented
  • Demonstrate a strong business acumen, communication, interpersonal, influencing and relationship building skills, enthusiastic and dynamic.
  • Have strong technical depth, dynamic cross-functional interaction and highly effective communication skills, excels at Powerpoint.
  • Sustainability consultancy background, manufacturing experience & deep understanding of scope 3 road mapping considered a plus.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK:

This role is based in our headquarters in Chicago (USA) or in Toronto (Canada) with some travels between the two countries on an as-needed basis (estimated 20%). Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving.
