Position Title: Manager, Sales Planning and Operations

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Director of North America Sales Planning & Operations, the Manager, Sales Planning & Operations will play a critical role in partnering directly with cross functional departments including Supply Planning, Demand Planning, BU, Category Marketing & Sales finance.  The incumbent will be the ‘voice of the customer’, in the day-to-day & monthly consensus process, providing insights into customer trends and executing strategies that drive volume & revenue, while enhancing customer satisfaction and streamlining operations.  In doing so, the incumbent will become the Sales, Supply Planning and Marketing function’s go-to partner, in executing volume growth opportunities, customer strategies & operational efficiencies.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales Planning:

  • Develop sales tools/materials to enable successful execution of key initiatives in collaboration with Customer Marketing & Category Leadership team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective sales/customer strategies including short-term and long-term planning and the development and measurement of Annual Plans
  • Manage monthly and YTD business performance and trade spend reporting to recommend appropriate corrective actions to deliver annual plans and KPIs
  • Collaborate with the revenue management and finance teams to develop pricing strategies that align with customer requirements & industry environment
  • Develop contingency plans to address seasonal fluctuations in product & service demand effectively
  • Support and drive continuous improvement of demand planning & S&OP processes

 

Sales Operations:

  • Lead & manage the sales forecast on demand vs forecast shifts to ensure timely development of an agreed upon forecast.
  • Utilize category & customer analytics to provide accurate sales forecast through changes in distribution, volume assumptions on new product launches, promotional activities, price change impacts to volume & other category insights trends impacting forecast.
  • Providing sales & demand planning teams with insights driving short-term demand fluctuations (ie: competitive impact, customer inventory etc.)
  • Manage opportunity & risk logs to provide regular reporting to sales leads on securing customer asks.
  • Ensure continuous sales planning accuracy by tracking and reporting against forecasting accuracy at sales channel level.
  • Represent Sales and act as voice of the customer in the Demand Consensus process, maintaining a clear commercial perspective on demand drivers and recommended actions.
  • Provide ad hoc analyses in support of demand variance analytics and customer prioritization.

 

MEASURES OF SUCCESS:

  • Minimum 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • Undergraduate degree required (ex. Finance, Statistics, Math, Business Administration, Engineering)
  • CPG experience is a strong asset
  • High level of enthusiasm, accountability, and ability to achieve results, even under tough circumstances.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills (gathers critical data, translates analysis of an opportunity to a recommendation that drives results)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to function effectively as a leader and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in working with very large data sets, exceptional quantitative and analytic skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Strong Excel skills required, and database application skills are highly preferred (i.e., PowerBI, Tableau)
  • A high level of curiosity and professionalism when taking on new opportunities
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt in a fluid environment

10-15% travel required
