Position Title: Director Quality Systems and Compliance

The Director of Quality Systems and Compliance is responsible for leading the North American Quality team in technical strategies, compliance, training, and data optimization. Reporting to the Vice President of Quality, this role is pivotal for supporting and transforming the Quality best practices across the North America Region.

   

How You’ll Add Value:

  • Strategy & Continuous Improvement
    • Build robust quality technical strategies and programs
    • Own and drives the organization, planning and preparation for the functional OGSM/Master plan in partnership with the Food Safety & Quality team
    • Lead and ensure Continuous improvement projects and initiatives are developed and executed (using MDI/Lean tools)
  • Compliance & Policy
    • Own and drive compliance for function
    • Internal Audit and External Audit Management, as well as relationship with certifying and regulatory bodies
    • Lead and manage the Quality Compliance Program for the facility to ensure compliance to Quality and Food Safety requirements outlined by AIB (or applicable GFSI scheme), and McCain’s Document Control
    • Act as recall coordinator; Provide strategic and tactical leadership for recall management corporate best practices
    • Regional Lead to drive effective continuous improvement activities to ensure facility compliance with all aspects of the standards
    • Recommend modifications to existing, or suggests new standards, methods, and procedures
  • Training & Development
    • Support the develop and implementation of the quality organization training strategy and procedures
    • Own and drive training for function including, tracking, and feedback loop
    • Build a corporate annual training program (Food Safety Quality for FSQ & non FSQ professionals)
    • Competency matrix and training plan deployment
  • Systems, Digitization & Analytics
    • Optimize SAP-Quality Module
    • Lead the Quality Management System Platform roll-out/Implementation (Intellex); Roll-out applicable modules (ex. CAPA, Internal Audit, Management of Change etc.)
    • Management of Change; Create, deploy and manage systems
    • Convert manually entered data into an Automated Quality Management System (QMS) to drive product consistency and improvement
    • Analyze data to validate or show deviations from existing standards
    • Compile monthly facility Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and create trending reports- digitization; Use data to make decisions and suggest changes to programs
    • Assist with the management of the Document Control System (if needed)
    • Drive execution of quality data analysis, trending, and reporting
    • Establish and maintain the regional Management review of FSQ

 

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, microbiology or related technical discipline; MSc, PhD, would be preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) or more years of experience working within a large global food manufacturing organization with progressive roles in FS&Q
  • Demonstrated passion for change and transforming quality culture, leadership strength and ability to work effectively with teams
  • Critical thinking, analytical ability and project management skills; Proficiency with reporting and publishing periodic metrics required
  • Experience with FSMA (including Preventive Controls, FSVP, Sanitary Transport, and Intentional Adulteration); HACCP/HARPC plan design, measurement, documentation, & training required
  • Knowledge of food laws, and U.S/Canadian regulations
  • Strong auditing and assessment skills are required
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Excellent communication skills: is able to effectively and persuasively articulate positions both verbally and in electronic mediums to various audiences including senior executives in a clear, concise and compelling manner
