The role of Director, Global Process Control & Automation is to develop and deploy Advanced Process Controls (APC) and deliver cost and quality optimization within McCain Foods digital manufacturing strategy. Leading a cross-functional team, this individual owns the programmatic deployment of advanced controls solutions across McCain manufacturing facilities globally.

 

How You’ll Help:

  • Lead a global team to develop world class advanced process control (APC) and automation strategy to optimize McCain manufacturing lines for safety, quality, and cost in partnership with Engineering, Operations, and IT groups
  • Develop and present high impact business cases in partnership with Finance by translating technical performance into business benefits
  • Lead program governance, meeting cadence, and senior stakeholder management to drive execution excellence through the program lifecycle in multiple regions
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills through various levels of business and plant organizations
  • Leverage data analytical tools and data to identify performance opportunities for existing equipment and new installations that deliver breakthrough performance
  • Direct the creation of global standards for consistency in line control and automation best practices across McCain global sites
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for other manufacturing and technical operations personnel
  • Deliver effective change management to support technical and cultural transformations globally

 

About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Professional Engineering designation, MBA, or PMP certifications are considered a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Engineering/Maintenance, or R&D functions
  • 5+ years of program management experience involving multi-disciplined matrixed and global teams
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to process control fundamentals; experience with advanced controls tools, including model predictive control (MPC) is considered a plus
  • Strong technical aptitude: process development and optimization, controls and automation
  • Knowledge of processing equipment, processing methods, manufacturing philosophies and basic food manufacturing practices
  • Experience in training and development of operators, supervisors and managers
  • Support plants to meet cost targets driven through optimizing plant assets and practices
  • Highly organized with strong technical program/project management capability, ability to lead cross-functional teams for business impact
  • Strong project communication and stakeholder management skills, including creating and delivering presentations to senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and within teams on abstract projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to build structure around ambiguity with a bias for driving action and resolution
  • Ability to clearly identify issues and risks, define options, elevate and escalate to appropriate audience when required
  • Ability to build trust quickly, and influence across level within a dynamic and matrixed organization
  • Willing to travel up to 50%, including international travel outside of North America; Valid passport required
