About the Role

Operations Manager
Montreal, QC


Supervise the operation of delivery of dedicated freight to meet automotive contractual requirements in a 24-hour, Monday through Saturday service including daily dock operations, reverse dock operations, and on-site customer dock operations, drivers, fleet & fleet maintenance, and dispatch.


How you'll help:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and transportation regulations as well as internal policiies and procedures. 
  • Supervise dock operations related to the receipt and delivery of automotive freight, including inbound, outbound, and customer delivery docks.  
  • Organize and dispatch inbound and outbound freight and routes
  • Work with Brokers and Broker Drivers to ensure customer service quality
  • Coordinate trailer maintenance as required
  • Liaise with customer service and directly with customers as required to resolve issues.
  • Monitor and ensure usage of handheld scanning system used to monitor freightflow.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to dispatch, driver and dock teams.
  • Respond to calls to answer questions or resolve problems after normal working hours.
  • May require, if applicable, filling in for the Operations Manager as required
  • Other related duties as may be required, including supporting dedicated customers other than automotive.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in logistics or business education
  • Minimum high school education with a solid combination of related experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five years experience working in the transportation industry, preferably in a logistics role.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Good judgement and the ability to make solid decisions
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written
  • Computer skills, including the use of Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Experience with AS400 an asset.
  • English
  • French an asset
  • Responsible for overseeing the work of 31 (+/-) Brokers and Broker Drivers, and supervises an operations team.
