The National Account Executive identifies opportunities for Day & Ross, representing the business to “C” level executives, VPs, GMs and all levels of decision makers within the accounts. The purpose of this role is to solution sell Day & Ross’ full scope of services by actively hunting new customers, and sell into existing customers with the key deliverable of achieving assigned revenue objectives and enabling maximum revenue growth.

 

How You’ll Help

  • With strong hunting abilities, you target new business opportunities with the ultimate objective of acquiring profitable new business in the market.
  • Will be responsible for the maintenance and/or revenue growth for all their assigned Day & Ross accounts with a focus on growth and Business Plan attainment.
  • Implements and maintains call cycle to ensure customer satisfaction, execution of account development strategies, prospecting/closing new business, goal attainment, and minimizes customer churn. This call cycle includes face-to-face meetings (primary focus), phone calls, virtual meetings, emails and may require travel.
  • Develops and maintains all aspects of the customer relationship up to an including: appropriate level of customer relationship management (optimal meeting frequency), rate proposals and negotiations, customer service problems, customer complaints, and any other customer issues with ownership/oversight and coordination of final resolutions.
  • Builds and maintains strong professional C-level relationships with the client.  Establishes a high level of personal credibility with key client executives.
  • Requires performing research on, and gaining an understanding of, the client’s industry.  Deeply understands client business strategies and challenges.
  • Builds and orchestrates sales pipeline activity. Ensures active nurturing of deals and movement of opportunities to close. 
  • Identifies, nurtures, and closes new solution opportunities that result in substantial growth in Day & Ross shares, revenues and margin.
  • Meets or exceeds quarterly and annual revenue and margin targets.
  • Drives integrated planning and execution; coordinates both sales and operations teams within the organization to ensure aligned client engagement and service.
  • Proactively engage executive sponsors to build a strategic relationship and favorably positions long-term business opportunities for Day & Ross.
  • Interfaces with both internal and external industry experts to anticipate changing client needs, and facilitate solution development.
  • Other related duties related as may be required.

 

Your Skills & Experience

  • Exceptional verbal communication skills are essential.  You are fluent in both French and English covering an account base located in Ontario and Quebec provinces.
  • Post secondary education in transportation or logistics preferred. 
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years’ of truckload services experience in building strategic customer relationships and account management.
  • Previous experience with international Air & Ocean freight forwarding.
  • Knowledge within the international Air & Ocean markets, as well as North American Truckload ground services.
  • Previous Transportation experience required, LTL considered an asset.
  • Forward-thinker who possesses strong sales abilities and a high degree of professionalism and relationship building skills. You have superior writing, presentation and overall communication skills. 
  • Collaboration with internal/external customers along with high level leadership.
  • Received specific training in sales, have ability to create formal presentations and work as part of a team to maximize results.

 

Working Environment

  • Work from home using Web Teleconferencing tools and phone.
  • May be required to visit other locations, including offices, terminals, maintenance shops, etc. 
  • Practice Social Distancing and Adhere Safety Protocols during pandemic
  • Up to 15% percent travel may be required within North America.
  • Home office to customer locations within the Greater Montreal Region on a daily basis (after Covid crisis).
