Within the European McCain Team, your focus as a Reliability Engineer is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. You will define and coordinate our maintenance excellence program on Lubrication, Condition Inspection and Continuous Improvement for Maintenance. Your goal is to:
- Improve uptime
- Optimize the equipment lifecycle
- Assure ongoing improvements in plant equipment reliability
- Employ lean strategies towards zero waste
- Engage all employees
- Assure maintenance cost improvements
- Realise equipment capability.
As a Reliability Engineer, you will achieve this while complying with all local, international and McCain statutory requirements for safety and food safety. You will work closely with the site Maintenance Manager to further improve and refine the approach toward equipment reliability and report to the Technology & Assets Management Lead for Continental Europe.
About the role
You work closely together with project engineering and plant engineering, to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
As a reliability engineer:
- You are responsible for adhering to the life cycle asset management process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets.
- You participate in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans, and in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers.
- You develop acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
- You participate in the final checkout of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.
- You guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and safety/security systems.
- You actively scan the market on new technology to improve maintainability and serviceability of assets.
- You assist the maintenance organization in case of structural operational issues.
- You help in the development of Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, and Standard Maintenance Procedures that are in support of any safety initiatives of the operating departments.
- You train maintenance and operation employees to expected Reliability Centered Maintenance practices
- You track production losses and abnormally high maintenance cost assets, then find ways to reduce those losses or high costs.
- You develops a plan to eliminate or reduce losses through root-cause analysis, obtain approval of the plan and facilitate the implementation.
- You attend plant/department cost meetings and assist operating department managers by providing cost data as it relates to equipment availability and cost saving initiatives
- You make recommendations for replacement parts or new purchases to be included in the annual maintenance budget based on delay analysis and projected equipment life cycle.
- You apply the Total Costs of Ownership methodology for the asset selection during basic engineering process.
Your profile
- You have minimal a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferable in mechanical, electrical or electronic fields, and combine this with minimum of five years maintenance experience in a food or FMCG manufacturing facility.
- You have strong knowledge and experience of condition inspection techniques and test equipment.
- You have proven ability to develop and execute reliability improvement strategies and plans.
- You have applied knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices and principles.
- You have solid data processing and analytical skills of both finance and statistics.
- You know how to design and manage projects.
- You are fluent in English, both written and spoken
- You have excellent communication and leadership skills, and show this by influencing, manage and develop people on all levels.

Where will you be working?
You will work closely together with other highly engaged professionals in a multinational company, with family values. You will find open communication in a flat structure, with global exposure. You will travel to our different production plants. Your main office can be located in either Harnes, Lewedorp or Grobbendonk. As Reliability Engineer, you will work in a complex matrix organization.
