PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST

Position Summary:
 

This position will play a vital role in McCain’s efforts to be a best-in-class purchaser of materials and services for use in the manufacture of food products, and will provide tactical supply chain leadership in the planning, delivery and storage of raw and packaging materials required for production at McCain’s North American plants.  Furthermore, this position will support:
•    Procurement systems initiatives
•    Problem solving and troubleshooting for material and service supply outages
•    Drive improvement opportunities related to supplier delivery performance
 
The Procurement Specialist will work hand in hand with the Procurement Buyers to ensure the creation of the contract in SAP, will review the long range plan and place contract orders for the items in need.  The Procurement Specialist will create the PO providing amount and delivery date of when goods/services should be received by the sites.  The Procurement Specialist will be the point of contact for vendors if questions arise regarding delivery quantity and delivery date.
 
Responsibilities:
•    Management of in-bound raw material supply chain - Ensure timely delivery of all ingredients and packaging materials necessary to support production.  Communicate required delivery times with suppliers.
•    Management of ingredient and packaging inventories with a focus upon maintaining inventories at an optimal level to support production requirements without risking supply to customers.  Determine SMI Vendor strategy and own day to day management including the SMI inventory parameters.
•    Accountability for raw material returns, dispositions, credits, and write-offs of ingredients and packaging used at your responsible manufacturing location.
•    Provide leadership in the management and resolution of raw material complaints.  Insure the buyer is aware of developing performance trends and that corrective actions are taken.
•    Conduct transactional procurement work including PO development and invoice follow ups.  Maintain supplier performance metrics and support collection of data for quality, delivery, schedule adherence, etc.
•    Review daily exception reports and insure at all required supply chain actions are taken in a proactive and timely manner to support plant production requirements.
•    Be a resource in the development and execution of ingredient and packaging savings initiatives.
 
Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain.
•    Computer Skills - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.  A thorough understanding and hands on experience using McCain’s SAP systems.
•    A solid foundation of knowledge about how McCain’s purchasing systems interact with other areas of the business (i.e. scheduling, planning, manufacturing, finance, etc.).
•    Demonstrated skills in the area of analytical, planning and analysis. Role is ideal for a detail-oriented problem solver with excellent prioritization and collaboration skills.
