McCain Food’s facility in Burley Idaho is a large-scale food processing plant, employing approximately 700 employees. This site specializes in the production of frozen potato products.

Position Summary:

 

Responsible for performing daily assessment of machine operations, periodic machine performance testing and adjustment, planning and scheduling routine machine maintenance and responding to machine problems.  Documentation of procedures and tasks, routine maintenance and training, along with involvement in project planning and opportunities for improvement with optical equipment are also required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1.

Daily assessment of machine operations

2.

Periodic (quarterly or as requested) machine performance testing and adjustment

3.

Plan & Schedule routine machine maintenance

4.

Respond quickly when machine problems develop

5.

Determine what spare parts should be kept in stock

6.

Determine what tools are needed to effectively maintain and repair the machines

7.

Document all frequently-used procedures and tasks (to be used as reference material and during training)

8.

Provide training to electronic sorting operators so they properly operate and maintain the machines

9.

Provide training to electrical technicians so they can handle machine problems in your absence

10.

Able to effectively coordinate the activities of others in a respectful and courteous manner

11.

Communicates problems or changes in production or quality to supervisor

12

Understands and adheres to the concept and techniques of the quality process in order to assure a quality operation

13

Promotes and adheres to company safety regulations

14

Keeps work areas clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices

15.

Helps to build a “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the Factory, and the Company

16.

May be required to participate in a continuous improvement process.

 

Qualifications:

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a good breadth of knowledge, electrical and mechanical skill set required. Previous experience in an electronics position is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instruction.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Required to complete certification through the Operator Training Program.

 

Physical Demand:

Constant: use and movement of hands and standing on regularly scheduled shift.

Frequently: Bending, grasping of hands, walking.

Occasionally: Walking, bending at the waist, squatting, kneeling, and twisting at the neck and waist, pushing and pulling. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
