SUMMARY

 

The Maintenance Training Coordinator will be responsible to facilitate and administer training for the maintenance and engineering disciplines.  This will include, but is not limited to, creating and updating training manuals for each position, development, maintenance and training of SOP’s, JSA’s, one-point lessons, and training tracking matrix.  The Maintenance Training Coordinator will administer training of maintenance personnel and document training performance for each trainee, communicate progress or lack thereof with trainer, trainee, and supervisor as appropriate.  The Maintenance Training Coordinator will be responsible for auditing the hands-on training between maintenance and engineering personnel and trainees and addressing any issues through the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and communicates training plans for maintenance employees in conjunction with their supervisors and adjusts plans when necessary.
  • Implements and coordinates training plans for maintenance employees.
  • Coordinates with Maintenance Planners to schedule training for employees.
  • Assists maintenance and engineering management efficiently administer and schedule on-the-job-training that is required as part of the McCain Foods’ Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship Program.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of all conditions affecting the training process.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of all equipment to facilitate maintenance training.
  • Creates and maintains training materials, including but not limited to training manuals, SOP’s, JSA’s, one-point lessons, checklists, tests, reviews, etc.
  • Facilitates, schedules, and documents vendor training.
  • Coordinates with PSM (Process Safety Management) Coordinator to ensure that maintenance employees are receiving and completing required ammonia training.
  • Coordinates with Environmental Department personnel to ensure that maintenance employees are meeting all ISO14001 requirements.
  • Evaluates the progress of training and analyze the effectiveness of training procedures and training materials.
  • Drafts, completes, records, and maintains all training documentation in professional, legible, and timely manner.
  • Attends work consistently and on time.  Ensures that responsibilities are covered when absent.
  • Able to multi-task, manage competing demands, and adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Checks-in regularly with the trainee and trainer to identify and address any concerns or problem in the training process.
  • Able to use CMMS to submit notifications, look up records in CMMS, and verify completion of tasks and training.
  • Treats people with respect, follows-up on commitments, and strives to uphold organizational values.
  • Actively looks and seeks out areas of improvement and develops innovative and creative solutions to problems with the training process.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of trainees, trainers, supervisors, and managers.

  • Communicates any problems or changes in working environment to appropriate personnel.

  • Keeps work area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and according to the principles of 5S.
  • Performs assigned tasks in a manner that does not endanger the environment and adheres to company and regulatory standards.
  • Promotes and adheres to company safety regulations.
  • Active involvement in Behavioral Observation Safety (BOS).
  • Wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Helps to build and promote a positive “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the factory, and the company.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement process, such as MCE events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY

  • Responsible to monitor work areas, area systems, and watch for suspicious behavior and report any concerns regarding unidentified visitors and/or unauthorized personnel.
  • Will have the authority to question and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of yourself, other employees, visitors, contractors, vendors, all products, and equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the food processing facility, especially where any raw or finished product is produced.
  • Authority to report and/or eliminate hazards to the safety of the food that is produced in the facility.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required.  Associates degree and prior leadership experience is preferred.  Twelve months related experience and/or some combination of college or technical courses and experience.  Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with passing score on the mechanical job skills test.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to read and comprehend complex technical instructions, correspondence, and memos such as safety rules, operating instructions, and technical operation and procedure manuals.  Must have the ability to write clear and concise correspondence and routine reports.  Effectively present and train on maintenance topics and provide information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, and draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply a reasonable person understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Required to obtain and maintain a factory issued power industrial vehicle (PIV) license for any and/or all classifications as required.
    • Valid factory issued forklift operator’s license.
    • Valid factory issued telehandler operator’s license.
    • Valid factory issued aerial lift operator’s license.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Intermediate computer skills, experience with SAP preferred.
  • Power Industrial Vehicle (PIV) trainer certification.
  • Understanding of PSM (Process Safety Management) requirements.
  • Understanding of ISO14001 requirements.
