Position Title: Agriculture Technology and Engineering Manager

This role is responsible for agricultural technology evaluation, engineering design, development and execution across McCain NA network, as well as managing technology system integration to provide data-driven insights, by actively partnering with production, engineering, IS, technical service, supply chain, and quality teams.


Expected to perform as a skilled influencer, an innovative thinker, and an effective collaborator, this role will lead technology innovation and solution engineering, create data-driven decision support tools, engage and leverage key stakeholders, to deliver tangible outcomes for optimizing raw material utilization and value.


Location Position can be based out of McCain locations at Plover (WI), Burley (ID) or Othello (WA).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Design, develop and implement automation and digital systems for agriculture raw material characterization for proactive processing decision making and optimized grower payment structure
  • Develop strategies and roadmaps to modernize Agriculture operations and increase raw material utilization, and sell and intersect such strategies with key stakeholders cross-functionally
  • Build and establish expertise in raw receiving operation and technology execution for all NA agriculture facilities, including potato and appetizers.
  • Act as a key technical liaison from Agriculture to Tech service and Manufacturing to visualize and capitalize the potential of data flow and architect along raw material utilization value chain for holistic sustainable cost saving initiatives.
  • Own grading process within identified regions including audit and calibration, and contribute to continuous improvement on operation efficiency for all internal and external grading labs across NA.
  • Lead bin sampling within identified regions; identify compelling pattern to model and connect harvesting bin-sample data with field, storage and daily delivery data to build predictive raw quality model to assist raw scheduling.
  • Enhance raw material supply planning and scheduling processes by effectively managing and utilizing digital software systems and collaborating with raw material procurement and supply chain teams
  • Own master data management for agricultural specification and drive alignment with finish good specification.
  • Build strong relationships at the plant levels in the areas of Production, Agriculture, and Controls to maintain influence and efficiency in changes to the processes. 
  • Promote a culture of truth inquiry behind numbers and drive evidence-based decision making.




  • Bachelor’s degree in technical areas, graduate work preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant working experience, preferably with industry experience in agriculture/ manufacturing / engineering / data analytics
  • Strong experience in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation controls and integration
  • Strong experience with project management methodology, process improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma), and SAP systems
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel models, Design of Experiment, statistical methods and process control
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% as required based on project load
  • Self-motivated with proven interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Ability to work independently and within teams on abstract projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, anticipate the future and change within the role
